Be Prepared for Winter Storms With Power Generation
Weather drives the largest majority of power outages that take place in the US, leaving thousands of people and businesses without electricity for days. One of the most useful and lifesaving pieces of equipment to have on hand is a generator. Generators come in a variety of sizes, capable of powering anything you need, whenever you need it.
Tips to Prepare Your Portable Generator for a Storm!
- Keep extra gas handy and ready. You do not want the generator to burn through its tank of gas and not have any on hand to keep it running.
- Check and change the oil when needed. If the oil is low, a lot of portable generators will shut off or not even start. Also, beware to use only the type of oil your generator requires. So, before changing the oil, be sure to double check your owner’s manual to be sure you use the correct type.
- Be sure to run the generator. By running it every once in a while, even for only twenty minutes, the generator will burn off moisture, lubricate the engine, and charges the battery.
- To make sure it is ready to go when you need it, check the filters. You should change the paper air filter if they appear to be visibly dirty. If your generator has a foam filter, wash in warm water, let them dry, and re-oil them in foam filter oil according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Emergency generators must be able to provide reliable, immediate and full strength electric power when there is a failure to the primary power supply system. The large industrial Doosan portable power generators are compatible for powering large areas like your job site or campus. They are designed to give power in the most extreme temperatures. It's also important to make sure you have all the accessories, cables, distribution boxes, and extra fuel tanks you may need to power these generators properly. Smaller generators, such as Honda units, are great to power a few small appliances in your home or office. They're compact, quiet, and run for a full 24 hours.
