Kenco Barrier Lift
The Kenco Barrier Lift is a specially designed lift used for road work and other construction applications where concrete barriers as well as other similar barriers need to be moved with efficiency.
The lift comes in 7 different models ranging from 1,500 - 40,000 pound capacities with grip widths from 4-28 inches. The pads on the unit angle as well to adjust to different barrier slopes. The units themselves weigh anywhere from 200 - 1,625 pounds depending on the model.
This attachment is unique in that it requires no hydraulics or a special plate/pin grabber set up. You can attach a cable/strap (within lift capacity ranges) or hook setup (as seen in the picture above) to the boom of the excavator and the top of the barrier lift and you are ready to operate.
The Kenco Barrier Lift is equipped with an actuator and is gravity driven. Starting in the open position, the attachment is hovered over the center of the barrier, and once dropped, the weight of the attachment engages the actuator. Once the actuator pin spins inside the receiver, the clamp begins to scissor up and uses tension to clamp the barrier for the ensuing move. Once the barrier is moved near its destination, there is a handle on the attachment where a co-worker can adjust the barrier to be dropped in the exact location. When the barrier is fully on the ground, the clamp begins to scissor back down and the pin seats back into the receiver, spinning into the closed position when the actuator is engaged again, holding the clamp in the open position so it can be removed from the barrier. The unit is to be greased every 200 to 400 lift cycles depending on operating conditions.
